Christie’s Guy and Eva Getaway to Cancun, Mexico!

February 28th, 2011

The February weather is pretty cold in upstate New York, so when Guy and Eva announced that the grand prize for the latest Advisor contest was a trip to Cancun, Mexico, I knew it was something I wanted. I was going to work my tail off and take my family on a much needed getaway! This was, by far, the BEST vacation my family and I have ever been on.

We flew into Cancun on a Monday and it was absolutely beautiful. The weather was a perfect 80+ degrees and sunny. More than anything, I was looking forward to seeing the sun. Just being warm was a wonderful thing!

We stayed at Club Med Yucatan, an all-inclusive resort, and the staff was waiting for us when we landed. They took us to the resort and all I kept saying was, “Oh, my goodness! Look at the water. Kids, look at the water! Craig, look at the water!” It was our first time seeing water so blue and crystal clear.

We arrived at the reception area where we were greeted by a very nice lady who offered us all warm towels to refresh our hands, iced tea, and water. She then sent us to eat at one of the all-inclusive restaurants. Let me tell you, if you left here being hungry, it was your own fault. There was so much food of all different kinds. The kids were in their glory. They got to pick whatever they wanted and this was how it went for the entire week. There were buffets, a Mexican Restaurant, and a steak house. Everyone was so friendly, it was lovely.

There were many things to do right at the resort – snorkeling, surfing, sailing, all kinds of fitness classes, arts and crafts for adults and kids, shows, music, and a mini Club Med for children. The kids loved the ocean and the pool, which is where we spent most of our time.

We took two guided excursions. The first was to Chichen Itza, one of the new Seven Wonders of the World and one of Yucatan’s most famous tourist sites. The tour took us through the city where we could view the ruins. The pyramid of Kukulkan is there. It astonished me that the Mayan and Toltec civilizations could build such things with only their hands and a few tools.

The other excursion was to a city called Tulum. This place was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. The city was built on the cliffs of the Caribbean Sea. It was breathtaking and like entering a secret, hidden world. At the entrance is a stone archway built into the stone walls surrounding the city. Once inside, we saw what was left of this stone city – structures and buildings surrounded by green, lush land and palm trees all overlooking the ocean. It really was quite impressive. Pictures of this place are beautiful but they cannot describe it’s beauty. Iguanas were everywhere! It was almost as if they were protecting the land. The kids loved seeing the iguanas and kept saying, “Can we take one home?”

IMG_5229

Those were some of the things we enjoyed on the trip. I’m so glad we got to make it a family trip and enjoy it with the kids. I think the best part was swimming in the crystal clear Caribbean waters with my family. Personally, I just loved sitting on the beach with my toes in the sand, watching how much fun my family was having. They just kept saying, “Mommy, I love Guy and Eva. Mommy, I’m so glad you joined that jewelry company. Mommy, tell Daniel that I love him…Mommy, thank you.” It was the best.

I am so grateful and beyond blessed to be a part of this company, not just for these amazing experiences, but because I get to work with such a wonderful group of people. To everyone at Guy and Eva, to all of our Advisors, thank you for being a part of my life. You make me smile every day and fill my heart with joy.

XOXOXO
